First things first, I want to say a huge thank you to all the awesome people who believed in us and supported us.
Not only our backers, who of course we are really grateful for. But also the people who shared the campaign, the people who rooted for us and everyone who left us a feedback (positive or negative doesn’t matter) because it’s thanks to that that we can grow.
The response to BioSynth has actually been incredible. We saw so much love from so many people. But it seems like we can’t make the Kickstarter work.
Looking closely at the campaign, the truth is simple: BioSynth’s scope is incredibly ambitious, and our current execution and resources weren’t enough. That’s entirely on me.
I’ve poured 5 years of my life, my savings, and all my passion into BioSynth because I have always believed in it and have always thought that the ideas behind it are really cool.
The sad reality is that without funds we can’t complete the game.
Does this mean that BioSynth dies here? Not necessarily, please keep reading to have the full picture.
I am deeply passionate about making games, and I am continuing in this direction, learning from my mistakes with BioSynth.
My biggest mistake was to start a game that’s too big. Every time I faced a challenge in life, I found a way to overcome it… when I started BioSynth I kept the same thought pattern: “I don’t have the resources to complete it now, but I can find a way to get the resources later”. I was wrong.
Now I want to go in the opposite direction. My goal is to start a new game that’s small and doable without coming to Kickstarter. Something that I could launch in a few months on Steam.
Classic RPGs are my absolute favorite genre. I also love ARPGs and RPGs in general, but they’re huge games too. In the last couple of years, I discovered a new genre that has been a blast for me: Bullet Heaven – which, if you think about it, are basically storyless ARPGs.
After careful thought, I decided to start a bullet heaven with these points in mind:
- Hand-drawn 2D – the idea is to keep the exact same style as the concept art you see for the robots in BioSynth, just with fewer details so they fit the gameplay.
- It takes place in the same world of BioSynth. It’ll actually reveal some characters, items, places.
- The plan is to release a demo for Steam Next Fest – either the one in June 2026, or the following one in October 2026.
- I aim at releasing an Early Access about one month later for 1,99€ and will add content regularly till the full game is published.
If you want to support this journey, explore the BioSynth universe from a different perspective, and be the first to play the new demo, click here to join the newsletter and stay updated.
By the way, if the game succeeds, there’s still a chance for BioSynth in the future.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment and I’ll do my best to answer.
Thank you for everything,
Mauro
